Drøsø remix

To “clean my palette” while working on the finishing touches of my degree project, I have finished up my remix of Kakkmaddafakka’s song Drøsø. You can download it right away if you like, and if you like these young voices, why not go buy their brand new album Hest right away? The cover photo is by my man Mario, which tagged along them on their recent Europe tour and made it his BA project. Smart guy.

Bin Laden is dead, I have my teacup full of licorice roots and my lap full of my project pitch. May is gonna be a good month, guys.

PS. if you like my remix, you should sign up for my little newsletter, and get the heads up of new stuff.

Project process reel

All right, I’ll give you the lowdown: On the ninth of May, I’m presenting my BA project in its finished form, and my sensors will either kick me out of civilized society, or parade my around the city. So on the 9th I can give you the whole thing. For now, I have made a quick documentation of the process, shown in the video underneath.

What is the project about, you say? In very short terms, I am taking all that is good about a traditional musical concert format, adding technology and “audience-oriented visual communication”, and applying it to an electronic concert. You know, the kind of concert where the guy just stands on stage looking at his laptop. Well; no more of that with me around, I’ll tell you.
Check back on the 9th to be amazed.

I just got back from By:Larm, a scandinavian festival for up-and-coming bands and artists. I am the “visualist” for the band Put Your hands Up For Neo-Tokyo, and the whole festival was mostly about getting more stage time and accumulating experience on being on the road.
My own visual presentation is far from finished, and is presented as a work in progress. The festival didn’t allow for visuals actually, so we had to cut special deals with the venues directly, which worked out OK, with me putting up projections in the ceiling and the side of the stage. The band played like there was no tomorrow though, the two best gigs I ever heard them play. And the reviews were pretty awesome too.

You can listen to the band at the facebook page, and check out some photos from the trip at a separate flickr account I set up for crappy hipstamatic stuff.

Lysgaard artist page revamp

I recently re-did the whole graphic presence for my electronic music pseudonym, Lysgaard. The concept behind the design was based on the visual language of old viking lore, combined with semi-modern space exploration. Seeing as I’m a hearty Norwegian, travelling the fjords of techno, it’s a fitting image. If you’ve seen the techno viking video that’s already a classic on youtube, you might get a glimpse of some strange inspiration, too.

The biggest exposure areas for this new profile is mainly the Lysgaard website, (made with cargo), and the MySpace page. There are plenty of other branding elements coming in the future, for posters, records and so on, but first thing’s first. I’m in no hurry.

On tour with PYHUFNT

Over the weekend we (Put Your Hands Up For Neo-Tokyo, this time) went on a mini-tour, playing at Hulen in Bergen and Tou Scene in Stavanger at the NuMusic festival.
I tried to document the trip as good as I could, here goes:

Everybody ready? All right, let’s go.
