Blobby type

A friend and brilliant designer from Oslo, Jon Arne Berg, just made a funny type experiment  he named cloud A.

So, naturally, I got all inspired and stuff. So here’s my take on the idea, far less readable, just because I can(mouse over the image if you wanna know what it says).
And of course, he actually worked on his version, I’m just waiting for the coffee to finish brewing here.

New Nabovarsel poster

Nabovarsel is kicking the scene in gear once again in Bergen, hot in the heels of the Ekko festival. I would say that anyone in Bergen should make sure to come, but anyone living there reading this are already going. What do you guys think about the poster?

Fin mag interview

The wonderful girls at Fin magazine just launched their newest edition, with moi in it.

The interview was super funny, and they managed to boil down my batshit theories to an actually coherent article. Way to go, girls.

Cover for Njaal – Me and hugh

Untz Untz, a record label run by two friends of mine in Bergen, are about to release a single for Njaal, which is a guy you may have heard about before around here. The cover art was done by Uniforms and Dropouts, and label boss Eirik  asked me to help out with the typography treatment. And I am happy to oblige, of course.

It’s worth to note that this is my all-time favourite track from Njaal, so I’m very happy to be part of it in any way. I’ve used early pre-released versions of this track as secret Dj weapons, and watched the audience go nuts to these beautiful arpeggio lines. I mean, just listen to it!

This is the first version I did, taking the dirty cover around for a spin with some glitter. The idea of fake gold I thought had a good connection with the rest of the cover. The typeface is Airship.

In the end, I would up going at it from a different approach, to try to match the grittiness of it instead of contrasting it. Typeface is Tondu, here goes.

In other, more personal news, things are going just dandy here in Copenhagen. I’ve made lots of new friends, and the hunt for clients and friendly agencies is going good. I just had a great meeting with Nille from Goodmorning Technology, and I’m meeting lots of cool folks over at Likemind.
I’m also keeping pretty busy with several projects that you will hear about soon on this very blog, so stay tuned and you’ll hear all about it!

New Portfolio

Hey, I just got my new print portfolio back from the printers! Being the new kid in town in Copenhagen means I need something to show I can walk the walk, whenever someone wants to talk shop.

I’ve chosen a pretty unconventional format, A5. It’s way easier to handle than a bulky A3 folder, and the way it will be used, it will work way better in a lookbook format. I’ve also printed six copies, so VIP’s can have one to keep. Each project gets a title page on colored 80gram paper, and the pieces themselves gets a whopping 200 grams. It’s practically a stack of postcards.
I’ve also glue-bound them myself, a surprisingly simple method of getting a very professional finish.

Our fancy camera is outta town, so the documentation is all with my smaller camera. But the pieces should speak for themselves, I guess.

The rest of the weekend were spent the real street finals, with these darlings:

By the way, you can download the whole rag to watch on your computer right here.

New website for Nabovarsel

I just finished implementing the new website for Nabovarsel, a music culture collective (I’d call it an institution) that I myself am also a part of here in Bergen. The old one used a slightly edited version of the default twenty ten theme for wordpress, so it’s safe to say it was ripe for picking down. The new one is a ever so slightly altered version of Sight, from WPShower. It fits us perfectly, as it has a smarter layout, better focus above the fold, and lots of small neat things.

But whatever, dudes. Just go check it out, that’s all I’m saying.Oh and by the way, the Fanzine I made for them is still available in the store, you know.
