I just finished a new screen print! If you have been following my twitter activity as of late, you might have picked up some hints as to what’s been going on.
The print is a super limited edition (35 in existence) screen print, hand printed, numbered and signed by yours truly at the graphics department at the Bergen Academy of the arts.
I’m about to open a web store, so these prints will be available for purchase quite soon. In the meantime, hang tight and look at some cool photos. (update: the store is open)
Just wanted to share this brilliant video, Super sexy CPR. It is of course a promotional video for Fortnight Lingerie, a very small scale Canadian lingerie shop it appears, with an Etsy shop and everything.
This is what American Apparel could have been, if they thought a bit about concept, instead of just pushing woman bits in our faces on general principle.
I’ll try to elaborate a bit:
The woman bits in this video are there for a reason, thus making it okay, in a way. The “woman bits industry”, exemplified by American Apparel, really has no excuse. They just squeeze in nipples everywhere they can because they know it sells more socks. In a way, American apparel could possibly get away with it if they conjured up a better context and syntaxfor their ads. What on earth that last bit means, I’ll let you sit and think about. Unless you are to busy thinking about all the exposed flesh in the video, in which case you already failed.
I silk screened some prints a couple months ago, but I didn’t get any proper photos of it. So here goes, properly documented this time.
These prints will be available for purchase soon. Hand signed and numbered, only 16 pieces in existence. Just pop me an email if you want to get on the list.
Time has come to finally release my freshiest mixtape yet; the first mixtape in a series for my new club The Set Up. This mixtape is titled Side A: The girls, as the B side will be a mix for the boys, to come at a later date. This time though, I’m really getting in touch with my feminine side. Damn, is this tape ever cheezy. But that’s a good thing. Really good.
You can download the mixtape right from the download button in the player, or, if you would like a zipped copy with album art and all, I have one of those for you here.
this is a party mixtape, a mixtape to dance ’till your clothes fall off and start makin babies to, not a high-brow tape to impress other djs. Girls are supposed to want to put this in the deck when they want to party out, but my dj colleges can enjoy it also, there are some pretty fancy stuff going on there as well.
I made a poster for a dj gig I’m having together with my fellow visual communicator Andreas Knag-Danielsen. In the end I went for the one with the pentagrams. I have to admit, it was a rush job, but it didn’t turn out directly repulsive, so I’ll blog away. Feel free to yell and scream in the comments, though.
This one is just a sketch, so don’t take it too seriously.
I’m in the middle a big project with a lot of people, so I whipped up a new desktop wallpaper for myself, to keep in mind the important things. And now you can, too. Click here to download a zip with versions for different screen sizes (plus dual screen).
I just uploaded a couple new things to the interspace, so I thought I should share.
This first track is a work in progress, working title Three tails. A moody arpeggio sketch, trying to pinpoint a disorienting theme. Three tails 1.3 (sketch) by lys
And this one, this is interesting. Ras is an ancient track for me, back from, oh, about 2005. I found it buried on my computer, and it still feels like one of those flying dreams when I hear it. it was built on inspiration by the dub master Scientist, and the track as a whole is borderline ridiculous, but that’s the way I like it. I remember spending days on end barely eating, getting close, intimate and sweaty with this synth sound. Ras by lys
There’s more over at Soundcloud, if I managed to tease your ears a little.
Finally, after a year of sweat and toil and locking ourselves in the studio, our band Stöv (me, CT and Jørgen Håland), are releasing our debut music video and single. More words later, first watch it!
You can download the track free at Soundcloud, and/or buy the full version in super high MP3 bitrate at Art On Earth.
I’ll probably edit this post later about more stuff regarding the song and video, but for now, you can read up on the vimeo page.
I try not to flood my personal site/blog with too much “random pics from the net”, so I created a tumblr blog to take care of that for me.
This way I get to have a place to pin the stuff I find that needs some kind of creative reaction, and you, my faithful readers, get to choose whether or not to be flooded by rubbish you care naught about.
You can see the blog here, if you wish.
PS. I still maintain an “inspiration” category here on this site, but strictly for material I find myself. One of my biggest principles about this blog is not re-posting material from other blogs. Now you know. Oh, and it’s named “Adrian” since my full name is Jacob Adrian Lysgaard. Yeah.
I’m insanely busy these days, with the Substans2010 exhibit, the Nabovarsel magazine, some serious gigs coming up, Stöv’s debut video, and lots more.
So what I always do to clear my head at the end of consentrating; I draw something from my head. This image of a screenprinted boat in the ocean came to me in my sleep a little time ago, so i had to committ it to paper. Or digital paper, at least. I hope the finished drawing will make it to the screen print some time this spring, if I get the time between everything. But all these projects are so much fun, and sleep is for losers.
