After a full year in use, I’ve given the identity system of Nabovarsel a thorough analysis, to see what works and (more importantly) what doesn’t.
You can see the whole process in great detail at Behance, I’ll keep to the highlights here:
- consolidate the “full circle” version and the simple “N” version into a more unified form, usable in any size and media
- Solidify the form to be more robust, as the hearline of the current version is to frail
- Enable a more unified typography, with only one typeface used across the entire system, and a more settled logotype.Updated combination mark. Unified the width in the emblem, and used an edited Neutra text Demi for the logotype.
Paragraph text. Neutra text book.
Hope you like it! If you do, hop on over to Behance and give me a thumbs up =)

Yeah, I’ve got some time to kill.

Guys like me usually use Wacom tablets for drawing directly into the computer, but after a little while, you really need to get your hands dirty again. So I whipped out my nibs while watching some Bill moyers stuff, the result being a strange mix of finance-related words.

The video of the guy in Oregon having built an “Ewok village”, basically a bunch of tree-houses, have been making the rounds on all sorts of blogs now. But have a look at the project behind this video, and you find FairCompanies, a website hub about simple living, sustainability and other, broader concepts. It’s a treasure drove of cool videos about new ways of thinking about living, and well worth the watch.
I’m getting to be the age where there’s a lot of glands making me wanna build stuff. A two-by-four now gives me the feeling I used to get from action figures and racing cars, plus tree-houses never stop being fun, right?
As a firm believer in responsible and sustainable design, I’m also very intrigued by these houses being made from pre-fabs and retired shipping containers. My first thought was that the insulation has to be a huge issue, but containers made for refrigeration and freezing are extremely well insulated, making them a great starting point for.. many things. Insert your own post-apocalypse joke here.
Videos after the break! (more…)

Here’s a few letteforms from two character sets I’m working on. Hardly rocket science, but I’m trying to do a whole lot more custom type treatments these days. Hope you like’em!
Today’s soundtrack: Senior, from my old neighbors Røyksopp. If you missed my track Singsiri, it’s still available for free download, you know.

Hey gang!
I just finished silk screening a few tote bags, mostly to see if I could make it work. I could.
For this batch, I only made four, but I have loads more planned (but with a totally different designs). Since they are more an experiment than a real “product”, I’m selling them for just the price of materials. So this is your chance to get a unique design and a practical bag for the price of a cup of coffee… Available in the store!

I just found this half-hour pitch on the now legendary identity system for Bell by Saul Bass.
For logo-nerds such as myself this is top entertainment, and my fascination for the graphic design work of this era helps too.
It’s quite fun to watch how far the design field has come since those days, and at the same time, which things stay as true today as they did then.
From hilarious design statements:
“In the contemporary world, stripes have a message. “
To this simple sign of the times, about the new uniforms for the female employees:
“More flattering than anything offered by the airlines.”
Enjoy.

So, we just signed the contract on a beautiful new apartment, in the Fredriksberg area of Copenhagen.
We haven’t moved yet, so I’m spending some time in the general area with a camera to get to know my new surroundings. Here is a collection of some pretty storefront signs, cute neighborhood bars, and our new front door!
And yeah, I used one of those stupid photo apps. Sue me.
In other news, I’m turning up the dials on my poster and silk screening production. Getting all the stars aligned for it is talking a little time, but stay tuned for some new stuff showing up in the store before long!

Huzzah! My track Singsiri, which has been in the works for some time – and some of you might have heard an early version of already – is finally finished and ready to hit you guys right in the face.
You are all very welcome to download it for totally free right here, and if you are a music nerd like me, you can find it at Soundcloud, too.
Free stuff is awesome. Awesome stuff is awesome. Merry christmas guys.
I keep a separate mailing list for the music stuff I do, to avoid giving you stuff you don’t want. So if you liked the song and want more, sign up for the newsletter right away (If you download the song and enter your email, I’ll do it for you)!
And if you are now asking yourself “What, music? Weren’t you a designer guy?” Then the answer is yes and yes. I do this too. When I make music I simply use my last name, so if you see a Jacob in front, it’s a design thing. Confusing? Not at all. Don’t believe me? I have a website for it and everything. Now go listen to some music already.

And boom, it’s here.
This is the poster I just finished for Nabovarsel’s christmas party, featuring a pretty stellar booking. The whitest boy alive will be playing some all-new stuff never seen before, and our marvelous Advanced Language just released a free single for you! The event is on facebook, and so am I.
Only hours after the announcement, we got some pretty nice press coverage. Here’s our local BA, and here’s one from Gaffa.
